Launched new 8-ton wheel loader – SEM 680 and upgraded track type tractor – SEM 822D
China, Qingzhou, August 18, 2018, Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. today held a celebration in Caterpillar Qingzhou (CQL) facility with the theme of “Together For Future Success” to mark the 60th anniversary of the Qingzhou facility and the SEM brand. CQL also launched its new 8-ton wheel loader – SEM 680D and the upgraded track type tractor – SEM 822D.
Caterpillar Qingzhou manufactures both Cat® 950GC wheel loader and SEM machines. The SEM brand contributes to Caterpillar’s enterprise strategy to provide expanded offerings in the utility segment.
“After 10 years of development in the Caterpillar company, our Qingzhou facility now has a more modern plant and product line as well as advanced R&D technology and production management model,” said Qihua Chen, vice president of Caterpillar Inc. and chairman of Caterpillar China. “The full range of SEM earthmoving products that meet Caterpillar's global manufacturing standards are designed to help our customers build a better world.”
During the ceremony, Caterpillar launched its newest addition to the SEM wheel loader family, the SEM 680D and the next generation D series track type tractor, the SEM 822D. Both represent the company’s expanded offerings strategy based on direct customer feedback. The SEM 680D targets the growing demand for larger wheel loaders to move more material in less time. The SEM 822D includes new configurations like forestry, desert and coal handling to meet different customer needs.

Leaders from Qingzhou government, representatives from the Construction Machinery Association, SEM customers, dealers and suppliers participated in the ceremony.
