Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. (CQL), formerly Shandong SEM Machinery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1958 and reorganized as a shareholder company in 2003. In 2008, Caterpillar (Qingzhou ) Ltd. became a full acquisition of Caterpillar and today is an important Caterpillar brand supporting the fast growing demands from China and worldwide. Caterpillar (Qingzhou ) Ltd. is located in Qingzhou City, eastern Shandong province, which is easily accessible by major highways. 

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, CQL produces both SEM and Cat® products. SEM is one of the key product brands of Caterpillar and its product portfolio includes wheel loaders, soil compactors, motor graders and track type tractor. To meet the increasing demands of global customers, Caterpillar has increased the investment and made expansion at CQL facility since 2009.  In Qingdao, Caterpillar set up a world-class research and development center with experienced engineers from Caterpillar global R&D networks to continuously develop innovative products to meet the requirements of customers from all over the world.

In China, SEM machines are sold through a network of over 70 SEM dealers, owned and operated by local entrepreneurs. In markets outside of China, the products are sold exclusively through Caterpillar dealerships with dedicated SEM channels, covering more than 90 countries. Key export markets for SEM machines include Asia Pacific, Latin America, CIS, and Africa and Middle East.

2016.05 PAMA machining center was put into operation in CQL

2014.03 SEM816LGP won Golden Prize of "China's Top 50 Construction Machinery Product of the Year" for technology innovation

2013.11 Shandong SEM Machinery co., Ltd. Officially renamed as Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd.

2012.01.13 SEM held the opening ceremony for the new axle box workshop and the foundation laying ceremony.

2011.08 SEM won the first overseas order from Algeria.

2008.08 SEM and Weifang College of Education signed the agreement for the training center project. The project will promote the win-win development for SEM and the College and guarantee SEM's development. It is a long term cooperation project between SEM and the College. It aims to provide a learning center for SEM and its suppliers, dealers and the students and teachers of the College. It will provide the students various kinds of engineering classes with Caterpillar's existing education resources, including teachers from both Caterpillar University and Weifang College of Education.

Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. has actively participated in the public welfare activities for a long time and has established good image as a corporate citizen.

2001~2006, Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. built roads and digged wells for villages near the company.

2004~2007, Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. donated education facilities valued about 100,000 Yuan for Yunhe Middle School and Dongguan Hui Minority Middle School.

In 2008, Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. donated 47930 Yuan for Southern China’s snow disaster and participated “Helping the Disabled” activity.

2006~2010, Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. donated about 0.7 million Yuan.May 12, 2008, the Ms 8.0 Sichuan earthquake killed more than 60,000 people and made more than 100,000 people homeless. Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. quickly responded after receiving the news and advocated the staff to donate. Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd.donated 803,000 Yuan for the disaster stricken area.

April 14, 2010, Yushu earthquake also made great damage. Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. donated a loader valued 380,000 Yuan and all the staff donated 501,400 Yuan for the disaster relief.

In October, 2016, CQL donated reading room facilities to local village school.Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd.’s fulfillment of social responsibility won high praises from Qingzhou People and the government, and Caterpillar (Qingzhou) Ltd. also won great support from all societies, which lays a solid foundation for the company’s development.
